Observers Mention There Are Political Symptoms Of Snatching During The Campaign

Poros Nasional. Political observer from Exposit Strategic Arif Susanto said there were symptoms of mock politics in the two months of the 2019 General Election campaign. According to him, the symptoms of mock politics were seen from the behavior of political elites who tended to attack each other with stern and emotionally inclined statements.

He said the symptom of the political mockery had impressed the political ideas of the elite.

"In the campaign period we now find a symptom of mockery, namely when political elites more often exploit the emotions of the masses through slanderous statements rather than exploring excellence through program offers," Arif said in a discussion in the Central Jakarta area on Wednesday (11/21).

He explained some forms of banter politics. First the elites convey messages that are superficial, superficial, not substantial and tend to be fabricated. One is the statement of candidate number vice president 02 Sandiaga about tempe as thin as ATM.

The second form, he continued, elites gave criticism which was not based on accurate data. For example, when Democratic Party Chairperson Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) said there were still 100 million poor people in Indonesia. In fact, at the same time the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released poverty data below 10 percent.

The third form is the delivery of elite emotional messages that lead to anger and tend to lead to agitation. One example, continued Arif, was the statement of candidate vice president number 01 Ma'ruf Amin who said that those who still criticized President Joko Widodo's performance were blind people and buddies.

Arif continued that the form of banter politics was the behavior of the elites to offend their opponents with summons and multiple interpretations. One of them is when Jokowi spawned the term sontoloyo politician.

He said the proliferation of political mockery in the elite occurred due to several things. First, candidate pairs tend to be reactionary and less anticipatory towards problems.

The two campaign teams failed to translate the vision into a more concrete program. The third is a breakthrough in smart and creative campaigns.

"The four politicizations of SARA continue to trap national politics in the puddle of hatred which has happened since long ago," he said.

However, he considered, the political style of this banter would not be effective because of an increasingly rational society. That said, he was seen from the 2018 regional elections where SARA politics and mutual ridicule did not occur massively.

He said that the large number of millennials would not make this political style effective for elites because of the characteristics of those who were pluralist, egalitarian, creative and critical.

"Using mock politics for rational voters is difficult. Even so for emotional voters who are loyal to their choices. I think this mockery politics is to fulfill the political desires of the elite who are competing," he said.

He said, so that the political symptoms of this mockery did not continue until the election day, candidates had to develop intelligent and creative political communication by offering ideas.

"The program offer will clearly contribute to the intelligence of voters. Check the campaign election law is part of political education. Now which part has been submitted by the two candidates who educate the public? What happened is duping the community," he said.
